Why Digital Media and Learning?

I am involved in the new digital media because I want to understand the ways in which young people of today represent the world cognitively.  Any attempt to do so without monitoring the NDM would be anachronistic.

Description of Current Work:

The GoodPlay project explores the ethical character of young people’s activities in the new digital media. We seek to understand how young people conceptualize their participation in virtual worlds and the ethical considerations which guide their conduct. We are studying youth ages 15-25 who participate in online games, social networking sites, and other online communities. Our methods include in-depth interviews and the posing of ethical dilemmas. Based on this research, we will develop a curriculum to encourage young people to reflect on the ethical implications of their online activities.
